KIP Education’s unique sessions create awareness around social gaming, gambling and addiction, in a school environment or youth setting among young people.

Many computer games are played online against other players over the internet, whether on a console, computer, mobile device or via social networking sites. Most play using an assumed identity, so you are generally already unaware of who they really are.  There can also be hidden financial risks in downloading and playing web and app-based games.

Gambling is becoming more and more prevalent in our society. Young people walk past betting shops, advertising, buy lottery tickets or scratchcard. Mobile phones have access, not only to traditional betting and casino-style gambling, but also to social games with a gambling element.

Some young people may struggle with gambling just as a social activity,  it can become a terrible addiction; contributing to a mental health conditions, and huge financial pressures

By equipping young people with knowledge and understanding we empower them as well as you, the parents/teachers/ professionals to deal with these challenges every day.

We use a harm reduction model which is a public health approach to encourage young people to say how gambling and gaming relate to them in society. We use a number of creative ways to raise the issue which is both age and material appropriate.

Examples of the types of workshops we run for young people in a classroom of group/ youth work setting:

  • Why people gamble
  • Probability and luck – the gambling industry
  • Money & debt
  • Addiction and Mental health
  • Social Gaming

KIP Education incorporates a therapeutic process in which all parties can work with the struggle adolescents face as they go through school both within their peer group as well as in their home environment. Through and within this process we focus on building a bond with young people so as to establish a level of trust that will allow the learner to process and understand their feelings, establishing a sense of normalcy around those difficult emotions.

KIP Education tailor our sessions to the needs of our clients and can create new presentations and workshops accordingly. The sessions are usually between 1 hour and 2 hours long and again this depends on the need of the client.

Social Gaming and Gambling Addiction can be a tricky subject to teach as students can find it awkward to discuss drug knowledge and experiences. To book a workshop on drugs and alcohol education, or if you have a specific workshop in mind please call us today; we have many unique programs available for you! contact us on 07956 300453 for more information.

KIP Education also offers other workshops; to find out more about KIP Education and our other workshops please visit our Workshops Page.
